Co-exhibitors of Sublime Terroir
Perched on the highest slope in the Bandol appellation in southern France lies Chateau de Pibarnon. The unique terroir here, old Triassic soil with predominant amounts of limestone, provides ideal conditions for Mourvèdre, the appellation’s emblematic grape variety, to flourish. The wines have seductive and rich aromas that immediately transport you to the wind swept hills of Provence with its famous garrigues herbs. The family of current owner, Eric de Saint Victor, purchased this magnificent property in the 1970s and have been quietly making some of France's most incredible wines ever since. Certified organic as of the 2019 vintage.
“Run by Eric de Saint Victor, who is aided by assistant winemaker Marie Laroze, Chateau de Pibarnon fashions some of the top wines from this incredible appellation. Any reader wanting to taste the best expression of Bandol should get on this estate’s bandwagon, as the price has yet to catch up to the quality.” — The Wine Advocate
